    Another fantastic stay at La Roche - 6 years after our first visit

  • As the Children are older we have been able to revisit some places and experience them differently, and also discover some new ones.

    What a brilliant time we have all had! All 3 Gites are so comfortable and well-equipped and the surroundings are so tranquil-perfect for a fantastic family holiday! Although much of our time was spent in the pool and playing on site. we did visit a few places -

    We've had a wonderful stay and Anne and Ray have been very hospitable, nothing has been too much trouble. Les Glycines is a very relaxing place to stay and out family have enjoyed just chilling out and relaxing. We've enjoyed the following places out -

  • La Rochelle - lovely day out
  • Saumur - Tank Museum and Chateau
  • Puy du Fou - amazing day - download the app
  • Parthenay - our favourite place to go shopping and very reasonably priced restaurants
  • Coulonges-sur-l'Autize - 15 mins - nice little town with Chateau and gardens

    What a warm welcome we received from Ray (Anne in the UK), thank you. We enjoyed our first meal up by the flower meadow, so peaceful - just the birds singing. We went to Parthenay,Vouvant,Foussais Payre,Mervent. Puy du Fou is well worth a visit - saw amazing shows - you need a whole day there. We have enjoyed our time in La Roche, very much, very relaxing. La Petite Noissette - the food was more than amazing, it was delicious, lovely people and very good value for money.

    So, we bid you farewell as we go on our journey, lovely meeting you both, keep up the excellent work, lets hope we meet again.

    Our kids didn't want to go home

    Les Glycines Gite

    We had a great time at Les Glycines. We enjoyed the pool, the playfield (especially the kids), the fresh eggs and the way how Ray and Anne made us feel like home.

  • Lake Chassenon is really nice - there are waterslides, shade ( for Babies), a water park and you can go for a waterbike ride.
  • Niort is a nice city to visit
  • La Rochelle was lovely - shopping, sightseeing and plenty of restaurants.

    • A gem of a place

    Les Glycines Gite

    Les Glycines is a gem of a place. We couldn't have wanted for more. Anne & Ray are superb hosts who endeavour to make your stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed the perfect balance of pool and games field with various trips out.

  • Karting -was a big hit - just up the road. Friendly and chatty staff.
  • Beach - we found the perfect beach - Les Conche plage near La Tranche. Long stretches of golden sand -  not crowded despite being August.
  • Il de Re - we cycled across the island to the glorious beaches on the south side.
  • Puy du Fou - utterly amazing place - cannot recommend enough. We want to go back.
  • Parthenay - great market

    Thank you for being wonderful hosts! We were made to feel very welcome and could not fault how helpful they have been. The property and grounds have been clean, tidy and in good repair & well-equipped. The children have adored the week, running around, meeting the chickens, playing in the pool - as have we! A great mix of relaxation right here on site and exploration of the area. Here are some of the highlights -

  • Marais Poitevin - wandered along the river edge before hiring a boat to explore the waterways. the children loved it.
  • Vouvant - very pretty little town
  • Parthenay - well worth a visit, scenic cobbled streets.
  • Local walk - great for the kids, perfect length and terrain
  • La Rochelle - worth it for a full day visit

    Thank you very much for your hospitality we really felt welcome. We especially liked your sense of humour! We had a lot of fun. The boys enjoyed the pool and the football field, the chickens and just strolling. We visited -

  • Puy du Fou - spectacular! |The shows were super amazing. We would recommend it.
  • Parc Aventure - The boys loved it - they were climbing for more than 2 hours. Different parcours for different ages. A big adventure!
  • Marais poitevin - a beautiful place

    • We would recommend this place to friends and family. You can do nice trips and relax in the garden and pool. THANKS A LOT!

    What a lovely ,peaceful retreat in the French countryside,. thank you for a lovely stay, we have all enjoyed our visit here and Les Glycines is a beautiful place to stay. We were amazed how well-equipped the Gite was and I think you have thought about everything. We certainly didn't want for anything. Your passion and commitment really shows and we appreciated all the little extras. Lovely places to visit -

    First of all, thanks to Anne & Ray for their hospitality. We really felt at home being here for 2 weeks. We went to Futuroscope - a must see, La Rochelle - a beautiful city, Parc Aventure - a lot of climbing, Nature Zoo,Mervent - a nice little zoo. Have a nice, relaxing stay here. Enjoy!

  • Eaten at Foussais-Payre - we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere - 29€ for 2 - four courses and an aperitif
  • Eaten at Coulon (Marais Poitevin) - at the side of the river- great location

    • We've had a very relaxing 2 weeks, lazing around the pool and listening to the birds. We hope to visit again. Cheers!

    There are so many things to see nearby

    Les Glycines Gite

    Thank you for a lovely fortnight - a beautiful, very well appointed Gite and a very warm welcome. There are so many things to see nearby - lots of pretty villages with interesting histories. We had a good day in La Rochelle and enjoyed the Towers, water bus and the old port. The boys loved Futuroscope and spending time in the pool. The walks around the Gite are also lovely and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife. Fresh bread and croissants every day, fresh eggs and home grown salad - what could be better! Thanks very much.

    A beautiful week

    La Roche Gite

    A beautiful week. Still early in the season ( 8 - 14 April), but temperatures in the 20'sC+ all week. Blue skies and sunshine- very relaxing. Our excursions were -

  • Marais Poitevin- we hired bicycles and spent the afternoon cycling a circular route \9 sell signed) around the marshlands. it's all very flat and enjoyable, wildlife everywhere.
  • Niort-very lovely feel to it. The church of St Andre is gorgeous. A walk around the town with breaks for a cafe here and there was beautiful leisure time
  • La Rochelle -A busy Port town. The old town has some lovely architecture, and a walk along the front and lunch overlooking the harbour was very pleasant, Lovely boutique shops and market all brought to mind a mini Barcelona!
  • La Petite Noissette Restaurant- inexpensive and friendly

    La Rochelle is well worth a visit, Niort is pretty and quiet. Lovely local walks are a great way to take in the countryside - a prefect antidote to city life.

    This is a very quiet part of France and we love it. I am sure we'll be back.

    We have enjoyed the peace and quiet that this location brings. Thank you for the help you have given in finding time to make our holiday special. The area is lovely and unspoilt and has given us thoughts about living here. We have enjoyed the food and wine, having regular bbq's. Our favourite restaurant is without doubt A LA Bonne Vie - great food, lovely hosts and a view to die for. We have walked the walks and have really enjoyed those.

    Marvellous hospitality

    Marvellous hospitality and sense of humour, our second visit here - and very relaxing it has been. Plenty of beautiful countryside to walk in. Found a gem of a Restaurant at Foussai-Payre - 12 euros for 4 courses including wine and coffee (lunchtime only). Seen plenty of wildlife including - Stone Marten,Hedgehog, Red-legged Partridge,Heron, Red Squirrels and numerous birds of prey. All the best of luck to two very great people.

    All three Gites

    We have all had a splendid stay - the three families in the three Gites. It has been wonderful for the boys to have such a great time in the pool and being able to play in so many areas around the Gites in safety. Visits to La Rochelle were really enjoyed and a fun day at Marais Poitevin boating on the canals. Many thanks to Anne and Ray for being such amazing hosts - so helpful.     What a lovely stay in Les Petites Pierres! We felt really welcome, thanks to Anne & Ray. The house had everything we needed and the swimming pool was enjoyable. In the 1 week we had various experiences - La Rochelle (beautiful) and Aquarium -A trip to the beach at La Tranche - climbing at Parc Aventure -Several cities/towns ( Vouvant,Poitiers and Parthenay) - Marais Poitevin by electric boat. We recommend this place to everyone who wants to have some rest, combined with some sportive activities and culture....and shopping! -
